Strategizing Your Lawyer Website

Friday, October 11th, 2013

Lawyer website design is much like legal case strategy. In litigating a case, a lawyer puts-on his (or her) best evidence for the trier-of-fact. The lawyer strategically decides which motions to file, the scope of discovery, who to call as a witness, and the content of direct- and cross-examinations.  Lawyer websites follow a similar strategy only, here, the lawyer decides who the target audience is, which facts are most important to his (or her) practice, the scope of legal content, and the substance of blog material.

Strategizing content for lawyer websites further parallels legal case strategy when it comes to behind-the-scenes work. Lawyers oftentimes have paralegals and secretaries organizing the case from the sidelines – interviewing witnesses, requesting evidence, drafting documents, and otherwise dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. In other words, an appealing and orderly presentation to the court is generally dependent upon a little team work. That’s exactly what LawyerSuccess, Inc. can do for you. Our team of marketing experts, lawyer website designers, legal content and blog writers, and technical support staffers create an online presence that is geared toward favorable results for your practice in the way of building your client-base. We understand that lawyers are busy people. Let us save you some time and money by letting us handle the behind-the-scenes work for your lawyer website.

LawyerSuccess, Inc. begins the strategizing of your lawyer website design with an interview. We want to know the practice areas you wish to promote online and the venues from which you wish to generate cases. Next, we feed your practice data into the latest web traffic reporting tools, searching for the best and most frequently used key-phrases in your specific market. This process, known as search engine optimization (SEO), allows us to generate the highest amount of web traffic possible by tactically positioning your lawyer website within the major search engines (such as Google, Yahoo!, and Bing) and bringing you the clients and cases you desire. The ultimate goal for your lawyer website is to be optimized for great search engine rankings; Lawyer Success, Inc. assists and guides you through the SEO maze. We provide you with a free, no-obligation consultation, and show you how SEO can significantly increase your website traffic.

Saving lawyers time and money

LawyerSuccess, Inc. is, perhaps, the only lawyer website design firm on the market willing to build a free website for your practice. You don’t pay unless you’re happy with our work. We guarantee our performance with opt-outs and SEO placement. Our strategy is to successfully design your strategy.

Finding the Right Designer for Your Lawyer Website

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

You have made the big jump. You have decided to build a website.

You have also decided to hire a web designer to build and design it for you.

Smart move. Today’s technology advances and changes at a moment’s notice. It is much easier to hire someone who keeps themselves up to date with the knowledge to build and make changes to a website quickly and efficiently. You should be commended on your decision to outsource tasks others can do so you can focus on building your law practice.

But there are still some decisions that need to be made.

The importance of choosing your web designer carefully cannot be overemphasized. Too many people have paid extraordinary amounts of money for websites that did not attract the right customers or did not present the image the lawyer wanted.

Here are some guidelines to help you through the process or hiring a web designer.

Before you Begin

First, decide on the design and layout. Remember, you are not building a site for the masses. You are carefully creating a professional site for people who are looking for the services that you provide.

What do you want your site to look like? Is your content written or do you need to hire a copywriter to help you formulate the copy of the site?

Ask colleagues for referrals to find a web designer. You probably will receive helpful feedback regarding efficient web designers as well as the designers to avoid. Your goal is to find a website designer who designs webs for lawyers and their law practices.

Finding a lawyer website designer can be risky because there are many inexperienced designers on the Web. Hiring a freelancer may seem attractive because the price may be significantly cheaper. A word of caution here- you can either strike gold hiring a freelancer…or not. Many freelancers are novices starting out their business.

Before making the decision to hire someone, ask the following questions:

  • Do you have a portfolio? How much experience do you have creating websites for lawyers and other professional practices?
  • Do you know what the ethics rules are in my state regarding lawyer websites and advertising?
  • How long does it take for you to make a change to my website?
  • Depending on the type of site you want, is the web designer able to add extras such as a blog, video spot or audio script?
  • Will he or she be around to help with technical problems?
  • If not, can they recommend a tech person to help with follow up?
  • Does the web designer know how to place Meta tags and key words to attract search engines?
  • Do you have a logo already? Are you expecting the designer to create a logo for you? Are they experienced at logo design and the concept of branding?

Great! You found someone to put the site together for you! Now, before you let go of the reigns, be careful to be specific with expectations and

  • What are all the costs associated with working with the designer?
  • How long will it take?
  • Will he/she do make changes if you are not happy with the final product?
  • Do you have at least 3 references of like area of practice?

Hiring a web designer to put an online face to your presence is a big deal. They are creating the visual “first impression” for your customers. However, when you do your research and hire a web designer who is familiar and comfortable with developing professional web you can have peace of mind that they will create a site that will help create a professional image of the services you provide.

While this article may give the appearance that finding a good web designer is easy, it may be more challenging than you expect.

One recent client of our said, “I made a few blunders starting out and paid a mint of money for a web site that I ended up shutting down and now I am having to start from scratch all over again.”

We hear from attorneys all the time who state, “I made the mistake of thinking the designer could create a site that I told him about even though his portfolio did not have any web sites that I liked or emulated my business.”

Unfortunately that happens all too often.

When developing Lawyer Success, I wanted to save others the frustration I had experienced by collecting a team that could comprehensively create an entire website especially for lawyers.

At we specialize in doing everything from building a site, writing the content and attracting customers to your site.

We would be privileged to help you with your site.

Lawyer Website – Throw Yourself Out There, Rhetorically That Is

Monday, May 4th, 2009

What’s the one thing that people look for in books other than a synopsis?  A biography of yourself.  Your lawyer website should provide the clients with as thorough of a bio as possible.  It doesn’t have to be long to be thorough, just succinct and important.

Things to consider are the what law school you attended, your GPA, clubs you were a part of, how long you’ve been practicing law, aspirations, wife and kids, future goals.

These are just a few of the things, but that’s up to you.  Many think having a bio is a waste of time and the important aspect of obtaining clients is the lawyer website design.  That is far from the truth.

Numerous factors go into obtaining clients.  Let’s take the idea of the bio one step further.  What does a bio convey and how does that make the clients feel?  For starters, a bio is rhetorically pleasing because you are establishing your credibility, but on the other hand you are also letting the client be comfortable with you so you can be easily approachable in the process.

Having a bio goes two ways.  Your biography should be serious, but it can also be conversational, almost blog-like.  You also don’t want to be pretentious and overbearing.

At Lawyer Success we are equipped with marketing and design strategies that you never knew were out there.  We study all the tools needed to succeed on the web and to earn you more web presence in the process.  There’s a big picture and a little picture.  At Lawyer Success, we cover them both.  Let us develop your web presence and take your business to new heights.  We are skilled and professional.  Trust us.  We’ve consulted with over 3,200 law firms.

Make sure you have the best in the business.  Call (768) 218-6099 for a free rate quote and a free consultation.

Law Web Templates – What is the point?

Monday, August 25th, 2008

According to Google there were over 390 searches within their index of websites for “Law Web Templates.”  Now this either means one of two things. Number 1 there are a bunch of lawyer website developers out there using cheap templates to rob their customers blind or there are a lot of attorneys looking to develop their own site.

The bottom line is…I have enough sense to hire an attorney to handle my legal needs because they tend to be serious issues and a lawyer has the experience and knowledge to help me navigate the serious and potentially life changing situation. So why put your reputation at risk and/or lose potential clients by going cheap on your Web presence?

Of course, I could represent myself, but that would be ridiculous.  A lawyer web template is just that – a cheap and unprofessional presentation that tells your potential clients that you care very little about your practice.  Perception is reality to the consumer.

With over 8 years of Web design and marketing experience, James Greenier has worked with the 4 most trafficked legal websites on the Web and has given over 3,200 law firm marketing consultations.
